Swift Current Co-Chairs announced for 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Championships Committee

SWIFT CURRENT, SK – The Swift Current Committee for the World Under-17 Hockey Championships is pleased to announce that it has appointed Tim Marcus and Liam Choo-Foo as Co-Chairs for the 2019 event that will take place November 2nd through 9th.

Marcus is the Chief Administrative Officer of the City of Swift Current, and brings with him a wealth of leadership experience, both in government and corporate settings, as well as in events management. Tim recently acted as Co-Chair of the 2019 Hockey Day in Canada event in Swift Current, where he oversaw City operations that were vital to the event’s success.

Choo-Foo is the former CEO and Director of Education of the Chinook School Division and has spent countless hours as a volunteer Coach in Minor Hockey, Baseball and SunDogs Volleyball, as well as 12 years on the Board of Directors of the Swift Current Broncos, currently as the Vice Chair and Alternate Western Hockey League Governor.

In addition to the appointments of Choo-Foo and Marcus, Brad Woods has been appointed Chair of Operations, and Chris Keleher has been appointed Chair of Community Activation.

There are still several openings that remain on the Committee, and volunteers from the public are encouraged to reach out and express their interest should they wish to contribute to the success of the 2019 Championships.

“We’re looking for enthusiastic, hard-working people who value teamwork,” said Choo-Foo. “I am thrilled to be able to work with Hockey Canada, our partners in Medicine Hat, and our Swift Current Community leaders and volunteers as we once again welcome the world to Swift Current.”

Interested individuals should contact Brad Woods by email at or by telephone at 306.770.2502 to discuss the exciting opportunities that are available within the Committee.

“We have spots open in the areas of Volunteer Coordination, Transportation and Hospitality, to name a few,” said Marcus. “These aren’t the only opportunities, however. Simply put: if you have a skillset that will lend to a great event, we want to talk to you.”
