Residential Lot Information
The City of Swift Current has a variety of residential lots available for sale. To view the lots or to access information, please call 306-778-2704 or packages can be picked up at City Hall.

Over the past few years, Swift Current has seen a high demand for highway commercial properties, partly due to the fact that our City is located along the Trans Canada highway and boasts a traffic count of approximately 6000 vehicles travelling on the highway each day. Many businesses have seized this opportunity and are being rewarded tremendously for their efforts.

The City has recently sold all of its inventory of highway commercial properties. Businesses are reaping the rewards of being located adjacent to the TransCanada Highway. For those that are interested in other privately owned highway commercial properties, please contact one of the local realtors.

Industrial Land For Sale
The City of Swift Current aggressively pursues attracting new industry to the City as well as assisting the existing manufacturing and processing businesses. Swift Current boasts two excellent Industrial Parks that house many large manufacturing plants.

As part of an incentive for new manufacturing and processing businesses to locate in these industrial parks, the City of Swift Current recently sold all available land in Munro Industrial Park. Given Munro Industrial Park's ideal location on the No. 4 highway on the south end of the City with easy access to and from all directions including the TransCanada Highway, many businesses capitalized on the land that was available. The City has now completed the concept plan for the expansion of the Munro Industrial Park and anticipates new lots will be available for sale in early 2017.

The City is pleased to provide a Tax Incentive Policy to both new and existing businesses:

Existing Businesses Expanding Policy

Definition of an Existing Business:
A business that currently has been licensed by the City of Swift Current for a minimum period of one year.

A business subject to commercial taxation, thus home based businesses and businesses subject to grants in lieu are excluded.

Any existing business will qualify for the following assessment exemptions:

The assessment exemption will be applied to any increased assessed value, (improvement), of an existing building due to renovations or new construction;
The exemption will also be applied to the assessed value of any expansion or new construction on bare land.

* The exemption does not apply to the assessment of the land.

The exemption will be applied as follows:

  • 100% exempt in year one
  • 100% exempt in year two
  • 50% exempt in year three
  • 25% exempt in year four
  • Full taxation in year five

The exemptions are applied once the expansion (additions/improvements) or new construction is assessable.

* Council reserves the right to approve each incentive package individually and to customize incentives to any specific project.

New Business Incentive Policy

Definition of a new business:
Any business that does not hold a valid City of Swift Current business license, and has not for at least one year's time.

Any business that is subject to commercial taxation. Home based businesses and businesses subject to grants in lieu are excluded.

Any new business will qualify for the following assessment exemptions:

The assessment exemption will be applied to any increased assessed value, (improvement), of an existing building due to renovations or new construction.

The exemption will also be applied to the assessed value of any expansion or new construction on bare land.

* The exemption does not apply to the assessment of any land.

The assessment exemption for new businesses will be applied as follows:

  • 100% exempt in year one
  • 50% exempt in year two
  • 25% exempt in year three
  • Full taxation in year four

The exemptions may be applied once the expansion (additions/improvements) or new construction is assessable.

* Council reserves the right to approve each incentive package individually and to customize incentives to any specific project.

  • The purchase price of land in the City industrial parks/locations is extremely reasonable at $100,000.00 per serviceable acre.
