The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for 2 temporary full-time Service Garage Technicians to work within Fleet Services. This is a one-year term position reporting to the Service Garage Superintendent.  

This position provides support and adds capacity to the Fleet Services department by assisting with routine maintenance, repairs and general shop functions. It is important for the Service Garage Technician to work closely with the Mechanics to coordinate their efforts to best optimize the efficiency of the shop, based on the goals of the organization.

Basic Requirements:

• Grade 12 Education or GED;
• Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5A Saskatchewan Driver’s License;
• 3 – 5 years of experience in vehicle and equipment repair and maintenance;
• Ability to load and haul disabled equipment;
• General knowledge of hydraulic systems, turf equipment, heavy construction equipment, agricultural equipment, light and heavy duty vehicles;
• Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, and to work well with other employees;
• Knowledge and ability to use both mechanical and computerized diagnostic equipment; and

• Willingness to become Safe Places - Aware Certified.

 

 

Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Class 1A Driver’s license;
• Picker Truck Operator’s Certificate;
• HVAC systems training certification;
• Wheelchair lift certification;
• Tire Technician experience;
• Preference will be given to candidates with post-secondary courses or training related to vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair; and
• Ability to weld and carry out moderate fabrication.

The salary range for this position is $25.41 to $28.59 per hour in accordance with City of Swift Current - CUPE Local 183 Collective Agreement. The City offers an attractive benefit package and pension plan.
