Fire Inspections

Fire inspections are a pivotal service performed by the Swift Current Fire Department, the inspections are conducted to meet the Fire Department vision of safeguarding our community through prevention and protection.

Fire inspections within the City are carried out by our certified inspectors, in compliance with the National Building Code and National Fire Code. Fire inspections are completed on commercial, industrial and multi-family residential buildings within the City to ensure that fire and life safety conditions are maintained throughout the community. Where voluntary compliance cannot be reached through inspection and education, the fire prevention by-law (16-2012) provides procedures for ticketing, written orders, prosecution and appeals process.

Our inspection program educates and enforces towards compliance with legislated fire and building safety standards which has shown a reduction in fire incidents and property loss due to fire.

Swift Current Fire Department conducts approximately 800-1000 inspections of homes, schools and businesses annually.
