Avoid The Clog!
The City of Swift Current has seen a significant uptick in the number of sewer main backups that have taken place in our community. These backups are the result of improper items being flushed down toilets. So we've enlisted Frog to help get this message across and Frog was hoppy to kermit to an ad campaign.
The good news? It’s very simple to avoid raw sewage backups by limiting what you flush down your toilet.
The better news? It’s even easier to remember what you CAN flush down your toilet:
- Human Waste
- Toilet Paper
Pro-Ribbit-ed Items
Anything other than human waste and toilet paper that is flushed can potentially cause a raw sewage backup in your system. Some of the COMMON CULPRITS that you should NOT flush include:
- Wipes (even those labelled “Flushable”)
- Cooking Grease
- Feminine Hygiene Products (even those labelled “Flushable”)
- Dental Floss
- Cotton swabs
- Hair
- Condoms
- Prescription Medication
We, and Frog, encourage you to avoid flushing any items other than human waste and toilet paper. Ultimately, if your sewer main backs up as a result of poor flushing habits, the potential restoration costs and toad-ally disgusting frog-grance can be significant. Your best bet? Just don't frog-et! Be like Frog - Avoid the Clog! You'll be hoppy you did!
