Garbage Carts
Every household has a City-owned garbage cart along with simple, easy-to-follow instructions on how to use it. Please watch the video explaining how to use your cart. Refer to the FAQs below for any further information.
Weekly Schedule
Weekly cart collection is determined by zones. Cart collection is year round, except on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, New Year’s Day, and Good Friday. You can use this map to cross reference your home address with our collection zones.
Large Cart
The cart measures 45 inches high by 25 inches wide by 35 inches deep, and it requires a storage area in your yard or garage that has a flat surface to sit on that is out of the wind, rain, and snow, if possible. It will have enough capacity to hold the same amount of garbage as three standard aluminum garbage cans.
Many Advantages
Overall, Smart Carts make garbage collection safer, cleaner, and more efficient. Carts are sturdy, lightweight, and easy to roll. This makes it safer to transport garbage for collection. Carts are uniform and more visible. This allows routes to be covered in less time, and reduces the number of missed collections. Carts come with secure lids to contain waste, keep litter off of the streets, and keep animals out of the garbage.
Reliable
The cart program means reliable garbage pick-up. Our service provider, Triways Disposal Services Ltd., uses a fleet of modern collection trucks with a robotic arm to pick up and empty your cart. Your garbage cart has a serial number linked to your home address to help track every pick-up, and avoid missed collections.
