Taxi Cab Licences

The City of Swift Current regulates the operation of Taxi Cab Companies in Swift Current for safety and aesthetic reasons. The goal is to ensure that taxi services are available, safe, and economical for the use of both citizens and visitors to the City. Only taxi cabs with registration stickers affixed to the rear window are licensed vehicles.

On an annual basis, the City of Swift Current allocates a maximum amount of licences for Taxi Cab Companies wishing to register vehicles for the purpose of transporting passengers on condition that each company obtain a current Business Licence, provide a bona fide office, and have all vehicles and drivers certified through the City.

The City may, in its discretion, issue up to eight temporary seasonal or special event taxicab licences to meet the demand for such services as may arise from time to time.
