The City of Swift Current is inviting applications for the position of Facilities Foreman in the Community Services Division. This position is a permanent full-time position and will involve weekend and holiday work, varied shifts of 8-, 10- and 12-hours. This position may also be required to cover shifts on short notice and expected to be on Standby during events to meet operational requirements.
Reporting to the Facilities Manager, this leadership position is responsible for the supervision of the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and staff of the InnovationPlex, S3 Arenas, Lt. Colonel Clifton Centre, Dickson Community Centre, and RC Dahl Centre. The foreman will supervise facility maintenance and operations to ensure work is completed to the standards and specialized techniques required. This position is supervisory but is also actively involved in daily operations. Other duties will include assisting in scheduling staff, monitoring maintenance of building systems and equipment, interacting with trades people, contractors and user groups, and conducting in-service training courses related to facility operation and safety. Additionally, this position may be required to provide assistance to the Aquatics Division during critical operational times and to help cover vacation and Sick Leave.
Basic Requirements:
- Completion of Grade Twelve (12);
- Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Saskatchewan Driver’s License;
- Must possess good working knowledge of OH&S standards;
- Must possess excellent problem solving, organizational, public relations, communication, project management, strategic planning, leadership, and supervisory skills;
- Maintain thorough working knowledge of facilities operations, construction, and maintenance management;
- Specialized knowledge of Building Management software gained through training and experience with systems;
- Strong ability to analyze and troubleshoot complicated/detailed refrigeration mechanical/control systems;
- Strong customer service orientation to work with public and user groups tactfully and respectfully at stressful times;
- Arial lift Training;
- Specialized knowledge of operation and repair of both Olympia and Engo Ice Resurfacers;
- Certified to train staff on relevant specialized equipment (PME Train the Trainer);
- Certification in Level I and II Arena Operators Course;
- Minimum 3 years Supervisory experience;
- A valid Fireman’s Boiler Certificate;
- Safe Places certification;
- Strong Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of major and minor building systems and equipment;
- Ability to organize, schedule and evaluate the work of the facility maintenance and operations staff; and
- Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form.
- Living within 10 minutes of all facilities in case of emergencies
Desirable Requirements:
- Western Facility Operator Master Certificate.
- Pool Operator Level 1, 2
- Refrigeration Engineer Certificate; or 4th Class Power Engineer
The salary range for this position is $28.36 to $34.51 per hour and is eligible for Shift Differential pay of $1.25 per hour for work between 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m.
