City of Swift Current

On March 3rd, 2014, The City of Swift Current released The Next 100 Years Strategic Plan for 2014–2016.

The Next 100 Years focuses on aggressive yet sustainable growth, with a stated goal of 25 000 residents by the year 2025, also known as Twenty-five by 25. To get there, we'll continue to have our house in order and take care of business, representing our core values—Trust, Respect, Responsibility, Commitment and Vision—with dedication and passion.

Our key areas of focus are:

• Managing city services;
• Planning, developing and growing our city;
• Maintaining a safe and caring community;
• Being the best we can be;
• Reaching out; and
• Building on what works.

As you can see, there’s a lot to do. As you can imagine, we can’t do it all at once. What we can do is prepare properly and prioritize prudently. That is the purpose of the plan. It gives us a road map and a timeline that we can follow to reach our stated objectives. It’s not carved in stone, and it will always allow us the flexibility to respond to the inevitable unknowns, good and bad, that we all know will surprise us along the way. Ultimately, it strives to inform our citizens of where we’re headed and underscores our sense of who we want to be today and in the future. Our hope and belief is that by working together our future will indeed be a bright one.
